Quick to Join U.S. SQUASH Staff in Doubles Capacity

As a result of a generous donation by Victor Elmaleh, National Champion Preston Quick will start at U.S. SQUASH this June as the Director of Squash Doubles. Quick’s responsibilities will include supporting current programs such as the dozens of sanctioned tournaments nationally, coordinating the weekly rankings for the US, Canada and North America, and managing the portfolio of National Championships and professional tournaments supported by U.S. SQUASH.

New initiatives and program enhancements will be explored and may include ensuring the Intercollegiate Squash Doubles Championships continues as an event and expands to include women’s teams, encouraging additional tournaments focused on attracting players in their 20’s and 30’s, supporting the development of additional junior doubles tournaments in the fall and spring of each season, initiating and supporting city-wide doubles leagues nationally using the New York and Philadelphia area leagues as a model, and marketing squash doubles to current and planned squash facilities.

Quick is currently the Head Squash Professional at the Union Boat Club in Boston, MA where he has been for more than five years. Prior to serving in this role, he was the assistant pro at the Field Club of Greenwich for three years. Quick served on the U.S. Squash Board of Directors for two years in the capacity of Athlete Representative, and has served on the Massachusetts Squash Board for three years. Quick previously served on the Board of Squash Haven, the New Haven based urban squash and education program for two years.

Prior to serving as a squash professional, Quick was the Executive Director of the College Squash Association for two years, immediately after graduating from Trinity College where he was a four time All-American and played on the team which started the now 13 year unbeaten streak. Quick’s other playing highlights include multiple junior, intercollegiate, doubles and singles National titles.

An experienced tournament director, Quick has run several National Championships, including two National Sibling Doubles Championships and the recent U.S. Hardball Championships. He also served as the co-chairman of the Poor/Bernheimer Doubles Classic which hosted more than 24 teams from 12 countries in an under 30 age division.
